Timeline: Pokemon, Plague Chapter 9

In the middle of the night, in Wefan's Lotus estate, there was a certain Pokedex Holder who still remained in the dining room in complete darkness, with only a flickering candle.

The gluttonous Diamond was tapping his finger on top of the table with great annoyance, it was almost as if he was trying to put together a piece of a difficult puzzle. There was a mystery that was bugging him, a question and answer that could not be heard or understood, and it was bugging Diamond to no end.

The more questions Diamond solved, the more question present itself. It was as if it was a never ending loop, and that is one thing Diamond cannot stand.

He continued stare at the flickering candle light intensely, the brightness helps him go off into a trance and concentrate...

"So, you can't sleep either?" A voice was heard nearby. Frightened, Diamond picked the candle stick up and pointed it towards the source of the voice, it was Blue, "Whoa now, quite jumpy, aren't we?"

The glutton gave out a long sigh and saw the Blue was not alone, there were two more Pokedex Holders standing by the door, "You guys scared me there, what are you doing up so late?"

As Diamond places the candlestick back at the center of the table, Blue and the other two, Green and Silver, sat down at the table along with Diamond,

"We should be asking the same thing," Green commented, "I would've taken you for someone who sleeps early and sleeps in."

A smile cracked on the teenager blessed with emotions, "You got me there, I would be asleep right now... but-"

"Something's bugging you, right?" Silver predicted, and he was right. Diamond nodded as his eyes looked away from the light, "I think we're all wondering the same thing... right?"

"On what Wefan is up to?" The female brunette laid out common grounds, everyone agreed in their own way, "Alright, what do you guys have?"

Green was the one that went first, "First off, why would Wefan want to betray us suddenly? Why would he give us an advantage, an estate to live in, and transportation? This type of 'handicap' seems too much of a blessing than it is a disaster."

"He did say that we should be lucky that we are being given such luxury right?" Blue pointed out "Why should we be lucky when he may be the person that kills us?"

The red head then presented his questions, "Hasn't anyone noticed that Wefan had the option of killing us all along? I have a feeling that this isn't betrayal, not entirely..."

The three Pokedex Holders then looked at Silver with a more mystified facial expression, the Exchanger then looked at him, "What makes you say that?"

"When Wefan met you, Green, Red, and Yellow, he pretended to be weak, right?" Silver recapped, "When Wefan betrayed you the first time, he didn't let a single blood drop, other than your consciousness..."

"Where are you going with this?" The Trainer was following almost everything Silver was saying,

"Don't you see? He had the option of killing each of us in a group, one by one..." Silver calculated, "But he didn't, everyone's life wasn't in danger, and the only time he has ever presented some form of hostility was when he was the one that challenged us to a duel."

Blue's eyes then widened, "Now that you mentioned it... Wefan didn't want to betray us, it was something about a tape being very important..."

"Blackmail most likely" The Trader guessed once more, "I doubt that he's the type to be aggressive unless provoked or something very precious is being endangered or being used against him..."

Green's body then leaned onto the table, "Then that means we're most likely the bait, but why us when we're going to die anyways?"

Finally, everyone went silent and all eyes were now on Diamond.

"You've been awfully quiet." Green's voice was blunt, "Something you want to add?"

The glutton's attention then returned and his facial expression turned completely apathetic, "These questions are way too small..."

The other three Pokedex Holders looked at each other in confusion.

"Yet I think I'm inching closer as to why Wefan is doing this..." The teen blessed with emotion's voice was slowly trailing off,

Annoyed, Silver hissed "Well then? Out with it."

"If indeed, Wefan has had every opportunity to kill us, why not kill us from the very beginning? Why would Wefan give us such gifts? Why would we be the bait?" Diamond restated each of their questions, "I think these questions are something that leads to a bigger picture... it's not why Wefan has betrayed us."

"Then what is it?" Blue's eyes began to sharpen,

Diamond looked into everyone's eyes intensely, "I think the question is, how could everything lead up to this?" When he saw that everyone was confused, he elaborated, "There was a moment of peace between each of us, we all are united and are now closer than ever. We have been provided the necessary equipment to train, transportation, and even food. We have also found a new hatred towards someone that has seen through us and brought it to light."

"Are you saying that... this was all planned?" Green clued together, the glutton nodded.

"If the Lotus Family wanted us dead, I think we would have already been dead by now..." Diamond continued, "So why attack the Pokemon Stronghold and Why hold a hearing opened to the public?"

Silver nodded to everything Diamond was saying, "Maybe the Lotus Family wanted to make themselves known to the public, get out of hiding."

"I don't think so," Green began, "I think they're trying to make as much noise as public, not to make it known to the public, but to the world."

"What I don't understand is... why wasn't all of the forces of the Pokemon Council there?" Blue brought up an important point, "There would have been enough time to contact their reserves and call for back up immediately!"

Diamond shook his head, "That's true, but remember, there were people working for the Pokemon Council... no one expected Falkner, Tate and Liza, to be traitors, along with the last line of defense... in other words..."

"There may be more people working for the Lotus Family." Green clued in

An eerie silence arose, until Blue broke the silence, "Max and the remaining Gym Leaders is coming over tomorrow."

The four Pokedex Holders looked at each other and nodded.

"Do not trust any of them," Silver said darkly, "We'll speak about this tomorrow morning."

After that, Diamond immediately blew the candle out, then everyone went head back to bed with their curiosities not in check.

Before Diamond closed his eyes, he muttered to himself, "Just what are you planning, Wefan Lotus...?"
